A – Juggling, manipulation and balancing

A.1. – Beginners Juggling and Balancing Workshop

This short “taster” workshop (1-2 hours) serves as an introduction to the world of Circus skills.
The session is divided in two parts; the first phase consists of group dynamics to create a suitable atmosphere followed by an explanation and brief exhibition of various juggling and balancing props and their uses. In the second phase the participants have the opportunity to try out their skills with the objects and explore their numerous possibilities. The props used are balls, scarves, rings, clubs, spinning plates, devil sticks, diabolos, stilts and unicycles.

A.2. – Juggling and Manipulation Course

The format of this course is flexible depending on the circumstances, conditions, and degree of specialisation desired (6-20 hours).
The course takes a “laboratory” approach emphasising the exploration of the infinite possibilities that each props presents us with. The aim of the process is to develop the imagination and innovative skills of the group and their application to the field of circus.
During the sessions we investigate rhythm, speed, numbers, “sharing, robbing and passing” (juggling between 2 or more people) and investigate theatrical possibilities for each prop or routine. Time is given to deepening the skills and knowledge of the participants. As well as the articles mentioned above in the Beginners Juggling and Balancing Workshop we also introduce less common props such as hats, cigar boxes, shakers, suitcases…

A.3. – Specialised Workshops in Juggling and Manipulation

These series of workshops which use an intensive weekend or week-long format are aimed at intermediate or advanced jugglers and work on more specific areas of study and practice.
Depending on the content of the sessions, these are taught and directed by members of Malabaracirco or guest teachers from other groups.
